Show CHILD LABOR LAW RECOGNIZED BY U. S. The Industrial commission of Utrvh, which has chnrpre of the administration 't the child labor laws of the state, has been notified by Daniel C. Roper, commissioner com-missioner of internal revenue, that certificates cer-tificates granted under the Utah laws permitting per-mitting children to work under certain conditions, will be equivalent to federal certificates. This means that if an empiover has In 1.1s force a child who Is permitted hy the school authorities of the state to be at work Instead of at school which is permissible per-missible under certain conditions, according accord-ing to the Utah statute the employer will net thereby be compelled to pay the excise ex-cise tax of 10 per cent of his net profits, which would be the case If he employed other forms of child lnbor. The 10 per cent tajc applies in cases of children under 16 who are employed In mines or quarries, or, between 14 and 16, at night work or for more than eight hours a day or six days a week in such nillls, canneries or other factories. Punishment Pun-ishment for false statements Is a minimum mini-mum fine of $ 1 00 or a maximum of ?1000 or imprisonment or both. |
