Show MINERS DECIDE UPON VOTE BEFORE STRIKE KESWICK, England, 'July 16. The conference con-ference of' the miners' federation refused today to authorize its executive to call a strike without a ballot of the members. This was a rebuff for the advocates of "direct action," who backed the resolution reso-lution authorizing the calling of a strike on any quest 'on of national importance such as nationalization of the coal mines. Such a strike had been proposed for early in August by the more radical members. The conference adjourned without taking tak-ing action on the government's offer to postpone the proposed 6 shillings a ton Increase In-crease in the price of col if the miners would agree that there should be no cessation ces-sation of work. |
