Show CHURCHILL PROPOSES NEW BRITISH PARTY LONDON, via Montreal, July 16. Colonel Winston Spencer Churchill, secretary sec-retary for war, is sponsor for a permanent coalition party to be known as the Center party. In a speech at a dinner, at which more than one hundred members of the house of commons were present, the secretary sec-retary for war urged the necessity for such an organization. Colonel Churchill, speaking as a disciple of Lloyd G-eorge, emphasized the need for continued combination of the moderates among th unionists and liberals in order to preserve what had been won in the war. He insisted upon cooperation for the purpose of fighting Bolshevism. Speakers who supported this plan Included In-cluded the chief coalition, liberal and unionist whips. Those present are said to have gained the impression that Mr. Lloyd George would lead the new Center party. |
