Agreements, ! which are expected by postoffice department depart-ment officials to brinft to an end the telephone strike on the Pacific coast, were readied late today at a conference between Chairman Koons of the wire control con-trol board and representatives of the interested in-terested unions. Striking1 operators will be permitted to return to work at an increased wage scale made effective under the agreement, agree-ment, which also is understood to provide that the question of retroactive pay shall be referred to the wire control board. |
