Show Logging the Auto Routes to Bear Lake J . j No 1 All is not pleasure in pathhnding. The roadmakers of Idaho were busy at this point on the shores of 1 Bear lake ss The Tribune Chalmers pathfinder passed through. Eighteen cars were stuck in this mudhole the day the pathfinder passed through. Equipped with U. S. chain tread tiros the pathfinder got through without putting on chains No 2 The Justly famous Danish dugway. Here the road is built through a slide of loose rocks on the mountain side and the man who built the road did not take the trouble to remove the rocks from the roadway. It was while climbing this dugway that the pathfinder began to grind in the differential and trammission. An investigation showed that the man whose duty it was to replenish the grease had failed to do so and the transmission and differential were as dry as a bone. Having a supply of one gallon of Vico oil on the car this was poured in the differential and transmission and the pathfinder pulled up the Danish dugway and went as far as Hyrum without trouble, where grease was secured. v4 &$&m lit!-' n -m -4riCf .fs- r " -yLl i -T I Jt-yI u J |
