Show AUTOS PULVERIZED; TIRES ARE UNHARMED A day or so ago a representative of the United States Tire company witnessed wit-nessed a disastrous wreck on one of our western railroads. The train in question was derailed and two carloads of automobiles were flung helter-skelter. One car, loaded with automobiles equipped with United States tires, broke in half. The automobiles auto-mobiles crashed into a ditch. Windshields, Wind-shields, tops, mudguards were crushed out of all semblance to their original form. Spokes were shattered, vet the tires stood firm. There were deep cuts on many, but they still held their original orig-inal air. While this wreck and the treatment to which these United States tires were subjected are both unusual happenings, nevertheless thev serve to show how staunch and tough are these remarkable casings. |
