Show UTAH GIRL IS AMONG THE ESSAY WINNERS NEW YORK, July S. Announcement was made tonight of the winners in an essay contest on "Thrift," which has been one of the subjects of the National Na-tional Education association convention. The National Education association, under un-der the offer of S. W. Strauss, president of the American Society for Thrift, conducted con-ducted essay contests in the public, schools and" among adults. The school contest brought out 20,000 essays from school children. The -winners of the school children's contest were: First, Nellie Harrington, Washington, D. C; second, William Denninger, Scran-ton, Scran-ton, Pa.; third, Euth Carver, Louisville, Kv.; fourth, Charlos Lane, Imperial, Cal.; fifth, Laura Yates, Mannington, W. Va.; sixth, Eleanor Webster, New Brighton, Pa.; seventh, Nettie Mart, Jamestown, N. D.; tied for eighth place, Abram Green, Scranton, Pa.; Zeletee McClellan, Kaysville, Utah.; Firman de Maris, Vineland, N. J., and Evan Alsip, Imperial. Cal. The winners in the adults' contents: First, Teresa M. Lenney, New Bo-chelle, Bo-chelle, N. Y.; tied for second place, Frances V. Frisbie, Indianapolis; Alfred F. Howes, Manchester, Conn.; Isador Kaplan, Brooklyn, N. Y., and Cora L. Swafford, Minneapolis, Minn. |
