Show CADILLAC MAKES BIG TOUR ON EAST COAST Ten-Year-Old Car Carries Owner From New York to Florida; One-Cylinder One-Cylinder Car. In striking contrast to th eoast-to-roast record, the Los Angeles-San Fran-I Fran-I cisco record, and numerous other road marks held bv the Cadillac eight, comes the news of a 1400-mile tour made by a New York man in a one-cylinder Cadillac. Ca-dillac. Daniel TTlrich and his wife left Ka-tonah, Ka-tonah, Westchester county, N. Y-f on May ' 24 for Gainesville. Fla., and reached the latter place on June 9. Mr. Ulrica has owned the car since June 25, 1)0t3, hence it had already seen ten seasons of constant use. Nevertheless, it made the 1422-mile trip from north to south id good shape, in spite of rains, mud. ruts and sand. Mr. Ulrich relates how in getting from Washington, D. C, to Fredericksburg, Md., he encountered a series of axle-deep ruts, which were so bad in several places that he was compelled to stop and choose which he would attempt. Even then the differen- tial on the rear axle dragged through ! the stiff red clay. I But the old car had a chance to show j its speed on a stretch of fine brick road i near Palatka, where it covered twenty miles in one hour. Mr. Ulrich warmly j prai-cs the machine for it? good work, and says it is good for many more miles. |
