Show TRAFFIC VIOLATIONS BRING CITY REVENUE Municipal OffidaJs ' Determined to Stamp Out Offending by Promptly Imposing Fines. Several violators of the city's traffic ordinance iu one or more of its phases faced Judge E. A. Rogers in the criminal crimi-nal division of the city court yesterday yester-day morning. The revenue derived was not as large as on numerous previous occasions, but in tho cases where there was no auestion as to the guilt of the accused nnos were imposed. Disregard of the signals of the traffic traf-fic officer brought a tine of $5 in two cases, passing a street car at the Salt-air Salt-air depot whilo the car was receiving and discharging passengers cost one auto driver $10; one speeder who held that thirty-five miles an hour was not too fast to drive his auto in the southeastern south-eastern part of the city was found guilty and will be sentenced Monday. The session developed one amusing feature in the case of Russell Garrison, colored, who was convicted of racing his auto with that of another driver who does not reside in this citv. The arresting officer, William St John, said that tho antoists were traveling at about forty miles an hour when he overtook thera on his motorcycle. "I guess I just got a little" nonsense in my head, ' ' said Garrison after his guilt had .been established. "Well, we'll try and take the nonsense non-sense out, ' ' said the court. ' ' Appear here for sentence at 10 o'clock Monday morning. ' ' |
