Show IRRIGATION DISPUTE IS CAUSE OF QUARREL Special to The Tribune. OGDEN, July 8. A dispute over the use of Irrigation water produced a flow of blood in the West Twelfth street district dis-trict this morning and later a warrant for the arrest of John D. Powell on a charge of battery. The complaint was issued is-sued at the request of II. H. Butler, a widely-known resident of the district, who charges that Powell struck him with a board which contained a nail. Mr. Butler But-ler appeared at police headquarters with his head bandaged and blood on his coat and shirt. Mr. Butler said he was trying to convince con-vince Mr. Powell and the la tier's son that he was entitled to the use of water from a joint irrigation ditch every Saturday. Sat-urday. When the son attempted to remove re-move the headgate which would allow the water to flow on the Powell land Mr. Butler said he placed his shovel on the gate. Aa he was stooping over, lie continued, con-tinued, the elder Powell struck him on the head with a board, the protruding nail lacerating his ear. Mr. Powell will be required to answer to the complaint before Judge George S. Barker on Monday. |
