Four Railway Trains Are Required to Transport Great Aggregation. HOLDING forth, a promise of elephants ele-phants upon which to ride, popcorn pop-corn to chew and other attractions, attrac-tions, the John Robinson shows, said to be the world's oldest circus, on its eighty-ninth annual tour, will arrive in Salt Lake early this monring for two performances Monday at the Eighth So'jth and Main streets show grounds. Fur rings, two stages, a quarter-mile hippodrome track and a wild west arena are included in the outfit. By daybreak this morning the first section will have steamed in. This section sec-tion brings the kitchen, stable and part of the canvas equipment. The next sections brings the big show and menagerie menag-erie tents and parade paraphernalia, while the third has aboard the famous Robinson zoological paradise. The fourth and final section conveys Pullman Pull-man sleepers exclusively, bearing the 300 performers and executive stall. Soon after arrival the city of tents at Main and Eighth South streets, with its population of 1000 souls and 500 head of horses and ponies, will be a breathing, living reality. The first tents to be erected will be those of the commissary com-missary department. Circus people always al-ways have their meals on time and they feed exceedingly well. A corps of ninety nine-ty chefs, cooks and waiters is needed to care for tbo inner comforts of the traveling trav-eling populace. As far as possible, today will be one of rest for the circus followers and no work will be done, save what is absolutely abso-lutely necessary. The festivities will be opened tomorrow tomor-row with the street pageant. The parade pa-rade is said to represent an outlay of nearly a million dollars. It will leave the show grounds at 10 a. m. and pass north on State street to South Temple street, then over to Main tsreet and back to the grounds. |
