Show POULTRY IS! i fiVElPLIHO Industry on a Profitable Basis Said to Be a Feature Fea-ture for Addition. s From present indications there' is every prospect that ono of the most important phases of life at Val Verda, the widely advertised tract of ncre-homesites, ncre-homesites, seven miles north of Salt Lake on the Centerville car line, will be the raising of chickens on a profitable profit-able basis. Alreudy a number of those who have Eurchased acre-homesites at Val Verda ave completed plans for raising chickens chick-ens in numbers running from 500 to 1000, the idea being to make a Val Verda acre produce the greater portion of the feed for 1000 chickens and to raise the latter on a moneymaking scale that will mean quick and steady profits each month of the year. It is estimated by officers of the Bet-tilyon Bet-tilyon Home Builders' company, owners own-ers of Val Verda, and other men who have had. long years of experience in chicken raising, that 1000 chickens on an acre of laud at Val Verda will net $200 a month or more. The fact that Val ATerda is only twenty-five minutes' ride by street car from Salt Lake, and that there is always al-ways a fine market for chickens and eggs in Salt Lake and other towns close to Val Verda, is an important fact in the calculation of. those who are planning plan-ning to raise chickens on a large scale. One man, who has farmed for years close to Val Verda, has stated that he has fiftv hens that net him $10 a month on an average the year round. Figuring Figur-ing on this basis, 1000 hens at Val Verda will net $200 a month, and this sum, representing as it does a total of $2400 net per year, is proving a ver- attractive prospect to a good many men and women who are tired of living on a little lot in town where there is little chance for them to get ahead. |
