Show DEPUTY SHERIFFS RAID POOL ROOMS Two squads of deputy sheriffs, under direction of Carl C. Carstenaen, chief criminal deputy, and Deputy E. C. Penrose Pen-rose last night raided two of the pool halls of Murray, the establishments of Con Gallagher and Matt Shober, both proprietors pro-prietors belnEr alleged to be engaged in conducting "blind pigs" in addition to their other activities. Deputies Charles "Wood and Ray Bar-ratt Bar-ratt assisted Officer Penrose in the raid on the Gallagher place. Penrose said last night that as soon as the officers entered the place Gallagher began pouring out whisky from a bottle Into a sink or drain, but that after a struggle with the man they secured a few ounces of the liquor, enough to furnish evidence against him. The officers acting under Officer Cars-tensen Cars-tensen in the raid on the Shober poolroom pool-room were Dick Richardson, Frank Matthews Mat-thews and Ben Harrlea. Mr. Penrose said that in this hall the officers secured twenty-six quarts of beer as evidence. Gallagher and Shober were not arrested, ar-rested, but, according to Officer Penrose, complaints will without delay be filed against them under the provisions of the abatement act. |
