Show I DEXTER = TJSCARORA CONSOLIDATED ijOLD 1llNES COPANY0 The properties of the DcxtorTusca > rora Consolidated Gold Mines company arc situated In the town of Tuscarora Elko county Nev fifty miles north of Elko on the Southern Pacific railroad and arc reached by stage The properties proper-ties owned by this company consist of I about 400 acres of patented ground Tho Improvements consist qf a forty Btamp mill an eIght > ton oynnldc kachlng plant a thirtyton astiatlng cyanide slime plant hoisting pumping nnd aircompressing plant concentrating concentrat-ing plant machine shop two electric I waterpower plants and transmission lints The stamp mill consists of forty Opound stamps In four batteries often of-ten each each stamp having capacity of from three to three and a half tons every twent > our hours the totnl capacity ca-pacity being 120 tons per day About CO per cent of the values arc caught on the plates and the sands are then carried to tho cyanide plant through a slulco trough The stamp mill Is operated ope-rated by a 100 horsepower electrJc motor mo-tor Thin motor also drives two Gatea crushers Tho cyanide plant Is l composed of two divisions the settling division and the L leaching division The eettllnr plant la for tha purpose of separating the slimes from the sands which are tall Jngrom the stamp mill There are thrce steel tanks fourteen feet high by twenty feet In diameter The stamp mill tailings run Into a water motor ret on the top of these tanks which distributes 7 dis-tributes the tailings through revolving i I arms evenly over tho bottom And the n slimes being lighter low ort Ipto the A ellmo pond from where the at L drawn Into tho slime plant and agi e talod and treated with cyanide solution The sands are token from the Eettltbg M I plant to the leachlntr l vats where they < < arc also treated with a solution ot cyanide ti 1 4 After bMng treated by cyanlds the l ponds carry from 20 to 40 cent In gohl i and 125 to 110 In silver All of the liver values canno be save at the l iprcsont lime but It Is l the Intention of JI the company to ertnh all ores run i I tY = through tho stamp mill Into slinir and then leach nil slimes by agitation and force air Into the tanks during the operation ope-ration to obtain higher oxidisation id while oroa are being leached adln this manner a hlpher percentage of values of both gold and silver can be extracted Tho slim and cyanide tf lutlon carrying the values will then be drawn Into filter presses where the solution a1 so-lution will be drawn art ana tailings I Hushed out A The entire plant with the exception l of the holit Is operated < by electricity generated from two waterpower pJnntll ono twelve mll < and the oth r twentythree miles distant The total capacity the generators on these two slants la 325 horsepower but the com any htlR been unable to obtain more hfin 100 horsepower fr6m them during the last J two years on accqunt of the extreme dryness of the seaspns The water from the Jack creek power plant 1 oanieJ through a Jlume 5OO foot 101i to the head of a steel pircllni 3CO feet long 22 Inches In liamcter thus obtaining a fall of JIG feet the generators being driven by Pelton wheels The curent Is i trnns mltt d Qvei the pole line at a pressure of UCflO volts twentythree miles to the stamp mill In Tuscnrorn The air compiessoi Is t an eightdrill arife aut ntlc cutriff NoMb 17 compressor ird Is driven by ICO horsepower horse-power Electric motor The hoist Is equipped with two 125 horsepower economic bollors In bank one 100 horre power Jlpubienctlni gearedbalanccd hoist unt two cae Onoton can are nolstcd nta speed of 600 feet per minute min-ute The boilers did furnish steam for operating two pumps on the 30ufojt level In the mine but these have recently re-cently been replaced by an electric pump which 13 1 much more economical The property of the company Is tray cried from east to west by a vein I known as the Dexter vein which Is about 1500 feet long with the strike I This vein is about 200 feet wide be tween walls and dips to the north with an average slope of 32 degrees from tho horizon This vein has been < ponafl up to a depth of 300 feet vertically verti-cally which Iii about 300 feet on the incline and about 250 00 feet of tunnels tun-nels drifts etc have been run on the different levels with the atilke of the vein which shows up a very large tonnage of both low and highgrade ore It is estimated that there Is over live years of ore of the value of 7 per ton In sight In the mine There are eighteen north and south Ins that intercept the Dexter vein at right angles These veins dip to the southwest at an angle of 05 degrees from the horizon These veins vary from two to thirty feet In width and have been developed for over 11000 feet on the different levels Values In these veins as a general rule are considerably consid-erably higher than those of the Dexter vein It is the Intention of the company com-pany to go deeper as soon as cheap power facilities can be obtained The Dexter has produced bullion cyanides and highgrade shipping ores up to this time of 1253980 The surface sur-face improvements have cost about 5500000 The company has purchased and paid for about 100000 of ground the balance of the money having been put Into mine development and labor The Improvements mine development ground purchased etc having been paid for almost entirely out or the property luolf only 65000 of assessments assess-ments having ben levied altogether During the post year about 4000 feet of drifts have been run In new country which has almost doubled the ore reserve serve In the property showing that the properly will have a long l life ores above the 300foot level only being considered con-sidered |
