B H JONES I Brigham Utah B H Jones is a native Utahn IIo is 33 ear of age He started out asa as-a section hand then a carpenter then a fireman and a school teacher Was a student In the University two years and attended the University of Michigan S Michi-gan in 18S8 and 1SSO He attended tho law l department of the Boston univer sity one year and took law lectures one year In Washington D C He was admitted to the bar In Utah when 21 years of aze and was admitted lo the bar of the Supreme court of the United States In ISil He appeared In the High Court of Chancery In England in some important and successful l American hclrship suits and appeared and argued on behalf of the settlers of Box Elder county the cases In the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals and In the Supreme court of the United States which reversed the rullngq which had been followed for about thirty years by the Territorial > and Circuit courts and which settled the construction of the Pacific railroad grants extending the time to make filings fil-ings after the definite location of the road and until the Land office was opened Mr Jones married Miss Melvin ChrIstensen In the year 1800 He has built one of the finest residences In I Brigham City he has been City Attorney Attor-ney for about ten years He was elected County Attorney on the Republican ticket In 1SOS and became shortly after exofficio District Attorney and exofcio Alolncy successfully suc-cessfully prosecuted some Important suits including four murder cases He received the nomination the receler nominaLon on Repub lican ticket for Judge of the First District Dis-trict court but was defeated the district dis-trict being Democratic Mr Jones has had about thirteen years active practice praC-tice In the Stile and Federal courts He Is an eloquent speaker and an ablo lawyer
