steam water and air columns and the other two are equipped with safety cages of the moat improved pattern built by Silver Bros of this city In beginning developments a crosscut cross-cut wag run north a distance of eightY thc feet where the welldefined vein was discovered between a line hanging and porphyry footwall Thc crmmC11t was then continued for a further I distance dis-tance of some sixty foot through birds eye porphyry where another and parallel paral-lel ledge some eight feet wide was cut from the porphyry hanging to the lime footwall Both of these ledges disclosed dis-closed a fine showing of nice milling ore Drifts were then started east and weston west-on the first and west on the second vein Both drifts have been sent west 100 feet and In the first ledge about the same distance east as welL From the latter a raJse of 250 feet in the vein connects with tho bottom of an old wlnza from the tunnel level l of the mine and a good circulation of air and an extra outlet Incase In-case of accident IM thus provided In making the raise good milling ore with iifee streaks of highgrade rock waa < encountered the entire distance Two drifts have been run in each direction from stations In thin raise which havo opened and exposed large bodies oC firstclass milling ore and the work Is Ktlll In progress In order that great reserves re-serves maybe blocked out with which to supply the large concentrating mill that will bo erected In the spring I A raise of 100 feet has also been made r In the north vein and drifts running i both east and west from w It disclose t ahout three feet of fine ore Work la being steadily pushed In these drifts al So and will be In shape to supply a big tonnage for the mill when com 1 1 pleted I In drifting west on the 300 level a i horse was encountered of very hard 1 lime This horse has been driven t through along the footwall side of the 5 vein for a distance of 150 feet and j seams of fine galena and quartz nave I hung tenaciously to the footwall all tho way This horse cuts off tho porphyry por-phyry that was encountered In the cast drift and at the west aide of the horse the north und south ledges are merging Into one showing that tho porphyry was simply an Intrusion cutllng tho i great ledge In two The mine Is fully provided with all I necessary stores and supplies for the J winter notwithstanding that a new
