Show NEW RULER'S OATH CAREFULLY WORDED i BUDAPEST, Jan. 27. The oath which ; the new king of Hungary took at the coronation cere monies here, as prepared by the Hungarian parliamentary committee, commit-tee, was expressly worded so that In connection con-nection with any peace arrangement It will be almost Impossible for the klng-emperor klng-emperor to make any cession of territory without the consent of the Austrian and Hungarian parliaments. The oath reads: We, Charles the First, emperor of Austria, the fourth king of Hungary by this name, etc., swear by God and all His safnts that we will respect the freedom, liberties and rights of all our subjects and that we shall under no circumstances alienate any parts of Hungary, Croatia, Slavonia and Dalmatla; on the contrary, we shall, so far as In our power, increase their territories and extend their boundaries, and shall do all we can in the Interests and glory of all these states of ours. |
