WATER PIPES ARE BROKEN BY FROST POCATELI0, Idaho, Jan. 27. Water Superintendent Edgar Smith appeared before be-fore the city council Thursday evening in regard to the bad situation on Garfield avenue, where the entire main from Sublette Sub-lette street to the river is frozen, with the result that for several blocks not a surface line on it is getting water. The pipe has cracked also In a number, of places and the only plan to relieve matters mat-ters which Superintendent Smith would recommend was to dig up the main and lower It to a safe depth at once. This work would hnve to be done In the spring in any event and doing it now would save the cost of thawing out the pipes and putting in new sections temporarily.
