Show FORTY-CENT WOOL SOLD IN MONTANA BUTTE, Mont., Jan. 27. Forty-cent wool is an actuality in Montana. Fred I. Long of northern Montana has sold his 160,000-pound wool clip, sheared in 1915, at that price. It has been stored in a wool warehouse waiting until Mr. Long received the price he deemed he should have, 40 cents a pound, and the sale was made through a Boston firm. When the clip was sheared wool was bringing from 24 to 2o cents per pound; but Mr. Long declined to sell under 2b cents, at which price the buvers then refused to look at his clip. Mr. Long has since been a persistent optimist on the subject of 40-cent wool and has held his product for that figure. The consignment brought him a return re-turn of at least 15 cents per pound over and above what he would have received had he sold it when first clipped. He feels that he can pay all charges, make a liberal allowance for interest and still show a handsome profit. |
