Show II BUDGET OF fCREIlSD Appropriations for Coming Fiscal Year Larger by Moire Than Two Millions. TOK-IOf-Jan 27 Naval appropriations appropria-tions for the coming fiscal year are estimated esti-mated at 106,632,940 yen or about $53,-316,470 $53,-316,470 comprising .49,907,296 yen ordinary ordi-nary expenditure, and 56,725,644 yen extraordinary ex-traordinary expenditure. Compared with the estimate of the previous fiscal year the figures show a total increase of 4,389,014 yen, of $2,194,507. The increase in ordinary expenditure includes 380,000 yen for maintenance of new warships, '500,000 yen for construction con-struction of special commission vessels, 500,000 yen for purchase of machinery for shipbuilding and ordnance manufacture, manufac-ture, and other items. On the extraordinary extraor-dinary expenditure! side the increase includes 3,344.271 yen in the armament repletion fund and 1,508,112 yen in the expenditure for temporary repairs of warships. I The additional claim for the new war-ship war-ship construction Iprogramme spread over seven years between 1917 and 1923, is as follows: 1917, 14,329,208 yen: 1918, 23,193,838 yen; 1919, 41,739,437 ven; 1920, 51,310,696 yen: 1921, 55 -400,448 ven; 1922, 4&,933,859 yen; 1923, 24,994,307 yen. j The foregoing figures cover the construction con-struction of three) super-dreadnought battlecruisers, three large-size scout ships, six small-sizp scout ships, nine large-size destroyerjs, eighteen middle-size middle-size destroyers, eighteen submarines and three special commission vessels. Of those the ships to be newly built in the next fiscal year are one super-dreadnought, one large-tvpe scout ship, one BmaTl-type scout ship, one large type destroyer, de-stroyer, one middlitype destroyer and three submarines. As the construction of the submarines, which was originally fixed to be completed after 1923, has been carried forward to within the coming com-ing seven years, that is, to be completed by the end of 1921 three more vessels will be constructed during the first three years commencing next fiscal year. An increase! of about 10,000,000 yen over the original estimate has resulted re-sulted in consequence of the curtailment curtail-ment of the period I of the programme. The claims for the temporary naval expenditures include maintenance and other miscellaneous; expenses of the warships war-ships expected tol be detailed in the South Sea islands land in the direction of Singapore in connection with Japan's war control of the (Pacific ocean. The total national revenue for the coming fiscal year is estimated at 604,-059,868 604,-059,868 yen, an increase of 3,121.471 yen in total revenu over the preceding! year. |
