Show r ARROWHEAD TRAIL IS REPORTING PROGRESS Road Between St. George and Santa Clara Being Improved; at Work on Canyon Highway. State road officiali are much interested inter-ested in the process bolng made by the Arrowhead Trail association, in southern south-ern Utah. Aocording to word received yesterday, yester-day, there la to bo a "big tnrnout" Saturday. February 10, when an earnest effort will be made to place the road between St. George and Santa Clara in first-class condition. To date thia has been one of the poorest stretches on the highway. Interested in the movoment for the coming com-ing "turn-out" are the Santa Clara Commercial club, the officials of Washington Wash-ington county, Dixie Normal college and Woodward school authorities. A special call has been issued by those interested for the loan of teams to facilitate the work. Residents of Washington and Gunlock have been asked to participate in the big good Toads day. and have expressed their intention in-tention of doing so. The business men of the interested towns are planning to close their places of business for the afternoon and to turn out to assist in the pick and shovel work. F. D. Clifford of Springdale reports that about two score of men are now engaged in work on tho Zion canyon rond within the national monument. They have completed three-quarters of a mile of road sixteon feet in width. A 240-foot bridge span with a pier in tho ml(J ile is to be part of the improve- --nt. |
