Dismond set a terrific pace at the start and held it throughout. Walter Miller of the Illinois Athletic club trailed him through the race and Meredith remained third until the last stretch, when Ro-y Campbell of the University of Chicago sprinted past the easterner and left him to finish an inglorious in-glorious last.
