"Within the next ten days Salt Laka will take rank as a metropolitan city in the matter of having a city ambulance always ready to answer the call of tie injured. J. Parley White, chief of police, announced an-nounced yesterday that a man qualified to render first aid would go on all the run of the ambulance. He thought that tie rendering of first aid, in the course of a year, would probably result In the saving of a number of lives, for there have oeen cases where injured persons on their way to the emergencv hospital in tho patrol wagon have died owing to the fact that persons qualified to givG proper attention were not on hand. The chief considered that the acquisition acqui-sition of the ambulance would be a step along the path of humanitarianisra ana if only one life was saved a year by prompt treatment he contended that the expense involved in building the nia-. nia-. hin8 would be well justified. The ambulance is being made by emplovees em-plovees of tie fire department. "It is rjei"nT built on the chassis of the old Pope-Hartford car formerly used by tbe chief of police, and discarded last spring. |
