Instead of taking a half -holiday, as did most of tho other capitol tenants, Mr. Fitz Gerald proceeded to set his office in order. He began at the private pri-vate safe in the executive office. Dry and musty reports of various kinds were dragged out and labeled and sent to permanent files. In behind the reports the secretary encountered a strange looking collection which he hustled to the light. It included a varied va-ried assortment of stationery bearing the stamp of the state Republican committee, com-mittee, an armload of pictures taken in Republican times in Utah and a halftone half-tone of the famous No-Ni-She arch draped in banners of the Republican party. Inasmuch as the secretary was convinced con-vinced that 'the Democrats are at the helm for a long time to come he ordered or-dered the collection carefully filed in the capitol vaults and preserved to posterity. |
