Show CAPTAIN BASSETT RUSHES TROOPS TO AID PATROL NOG ALES. Ariz., Jan. 27. Troop F comprising sixty Utah cavaJrvmen, commanded com-manded by Captain Freeman Bassett, and a pack train with ammunition left No-gales No-gales this morning to reinforce the border patrol at Arivaca which has been engaged en-gaged for the past thirty-six hours in a fight witli Mexicans. No list of casualties has been received here. The fight with the Mexicans, according to meager reports from the Arivaca district, dis-trict, began with six American cowboys, who rode close to the line to drive back a herd of cattle that were straying across. Mexicans opened fire and the cowbovs took cover and exchanged shots with them. Fourteen troopers of the Utah cavalry, commanded by Lieutenant Carl H. Arnes, patrolling the border at Stone House, came up and took part In the engagement. |
