Show Local gymnasts compete in Boise Invitational, prepare for weekend meet On Jan. 23, USA Gymnastics World's Class I and II girls' team traveled to Boise, Ida. to compete in an Invitational Gymnastics Meet. There were 15 clubs from around the Northwest part of the country. It was a combined boys and girls invitational, boys competing Friday, Fri-day, girls competing Saturday. The boys started out very strong, winning events at all levels, coming away with a very strong lead. The girls came in Saturday a bit nervous, being their first optional op-tional meet of the season. USAGW competitors included Missy Edson, competing exhibition only; Michelle Schenck, Brittany Mat-sumura, Mat-sumura, who placed 6th on vault; Julie De Bry placing 3rd on vault; and Amy White, placing 5th on bars; 2nd on vault ; 2nd on beam, 1st on floor and 1st in the all-around. The girls did well, holding their own half of the team score. USAGW walked away with first place as a team overall. The girls will compete at home Feb. 26-27. The public is welcome to attend. Friday compulsories will start at 7 p.m. and Saturday optionals will start at 1:30 p.m. |
