Show Possibilities still abound during state basketball tournament action By TOM HARALDSEN Sports Editor The once-a-week publication of the Davis County Clipper lends itself it-self to a problematical approach of informing readers of the state playoff play-off schedule, but here goes. With Tuesday action in the boys' 4-A basketball tournament conducted after our press deadline, here are possibilities: " Bountiful was to play Cottonwood Cotton-wood at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday. The top-ranked Colts were surprised by Alta 88-76 Friday night, and are slight favorites to beat the Braves. .Should Bountiful win, it will meet the winner of the Davis-American Fork game on Thursday at 1:30 p.m. The consolation title game is set for Friday at 6 p.m. Davis will also have a difficult time in its second game, taking on American Fork, another pre-tournament pre-tournament favorite which lost to Taylors ville 78-76 on Friday. Davis and Bountiful, should they both win Tuesday (the Darts play A.F. at 4: 10 p.m.) would meet Thursday at 1:30 p.m. In the winner's bracket, Layton took on Alta Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. If the Lancers won, they will play Thursday at 7:10 p.m. against the winner of the Bonneville-Taylorsville Bonneville-Taylorsville game. If they lost, they will play the loser of that game at 11:50 a.m. Thursday. Clearfield will tackle Mountain View tonight (Wednesday) at 6:30 p.m. with the winner playing the Brighton-Highland winner Thursday Thurs-day at 8:50 p.m. The losers will meet Thursday at 5:30 p.m. The tournament will conclude Friday with games at 2 p.m. (fifth and seventh place), 3:40p.m. (third and fourth), 6 p.m. (consolation) and 8 p.m. (championship). Girls' 4-A state tournament action ac-tion also begins on Monday at Murray Mur-ray High. What we do know is that both Viewmont and Bountiful will play games on Monday, but the times are a guess. Should Viewmont View-mont win Tuesday's game (after our deadlines), and Bountiful loses to unbeaten Woods Cross, the Vikings Vik-ings will play Monday at 2:30 p.m. against the third place team from Region One. Bountiful will then play at 6:30 p.m. against the second-place finisher from Region One. If both teams win or lose their Tuesday games this week, a coin flip will determine their seeding. Woods Cross will open Tuesday at 4:10 p.m. against either the fourth-place finisher in Region One or the fifth-place Region Three team. Davis will face an interregion game this week, and should the Darts win, they will open the state tournament Tuesday at 8:10 p.m., probably against Clearfield.
