Show Host families needed for foreign students Imagine playing a few sets of tennis ten-nis with a nationally-ranked player from France, or sharing your morning coffee with the son of the director of The Louvre Museum of Paris, or receiving French perfume as a gift from the grandson of the founder of Arpeges-Lanvin Cosmetics. i nese are just a iew opportunities opportuni-ties that 1,000 host families in Idaho Ida-ho and Utah have had as participants partici-pants in the Nacel Cultural Exchange Ex-change program in the past six years. Local families are needed to host 210 French and 60 Spanish high school students and nine teacher-chaperones teacher-chaperones who will visit Idaho and Utah this summer with Nacel Cultural Exchanges. The group will arrive July 8 and depart Aug. 4, after a four-week homestay. "The students come from all parts of France and Spain, with the common desire of learning about the American people and their way of life," said Mary Ellen Voshell, Nacel Area Coordinator. "Host families are encouraged to provide opportunities for the student to visit local points of interest," she added, "but expensive entertainment entertain-ment is not necessary and not expected. ex-pected. Students may accompany families if travel is planned during the homestay. Medical and liability insurance is provided, and students bring their own spending money. Families Fami-lies receive orientation materials and chaperone support througnout the stay. Host families need not speak French or Spanish, because students will want to practice their English. In addition, openings are available avail-able for American teenagers to visit France, Germany, Spain or The Ivory Coast with Nacel's Summer Sum-mer Discovery Program. The four-week four-week homestay in Europe, which includes round-trip transportation, orientation, insurance and chaperone chaper-one care, costs $1245 from Salt Lake City, Boise or Spokane. Applicants must have two years of foreign language study. However, Howev-er, Nacel also offers Study Seminars Semi-nars in England or Ireland, and for beginning French students, grades 6-8, a study seminar in Paris. Nacel Cultural Exchanges is a 30-year old non-profit organization based in Tours, France. More than 7,000 European teenagers will visit the United States this summer with Nacel, and 1,500 American students stu-dents will travel to Europe. For further information, please contact Merlene B.
