Show Davis County has many heroes By CHERIE HUBER In an emotional farewell to Valley Val-ley View Golf Course, the location where the Layton Chamber of Commerce has held so many meetings, meet-ings, Jack Whitesides presented a plaque to Clarence Newman, the caterer who served the 36 luncheons lun-cheons and five parties the Layton Chamber of Commerce has enjoyed en-joyed at the golf course. The February Feb-ruary meeting at Valley View was the last meal to be served in the dining room which is being converted con-verted into a pro shop for the golf course. In Bountiful, Servus Drug's Lois Pickett was honored by Bountiful Kiwanis and presented with a plant in recognition of the countless luncheons lun-cheons she has served to Bountiful clubs and organizations including the Bountiful Kiwanis in the Servus Ser-vus Drug Pine Room. Also in Bountiful a mother called about the cross walk guard on 400 North for Meadowbrook School. "Judy Carlson," she said, "is always al-ways there no matter what the weather. I'm not the only mother who has noticed her faithful attendance attend-ance and we really appreciate it." Special thanks also go to the unknown un-known heroes who turned in the purse at Hill Air Force Base. A young woman stopped to talk to a friend and laid her purse on her car. A few minutes later she drove away with the purse still lying on the car. When it fell off in traffic a car with New Mexico plates stopped stop-ped and retrieved it. That driver w S" )tjf S"S Clare Sorenson, Kiwanis president honored Lois Pickett for all the meals she has served at Servus Drug. passed the purse on to a trucker who brought it to the base police station. Those thoughtful people saved the young woman from replacing re-placing identification cards, credit cards and keys. Another letter to the Clipper brought a comment about Delbert and Bernice Noble in Woods Cross. Mr. Noble has for years shared produce from his fields with area widows and others in need, We want you to know that you are appreciated, Mr. Noble. j- 1 1 11111 -H 'jp'iMir v .uiSs: ,.
