The marriage of Miss Theata Hughes and Delbert Townsend took place Wednesday Wed-nesday morning in the Salt Lake temple. tem-ple. A reception for the immediate families fami-lies and a few close friends was helc in the evening at Ihe home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Hughes. The rooms were prettily decorated with palms and garden flowers, and the centerpiece cen-terpiece for the table was a large low bowl of red roses. The bride was gowned in a combination of gray and rose Georgette crepe and carried bride's roses. Mr. Townsend will leave soon for government gov-ernment service, and Mrs. Townsend will remain with her parents. Miss Kathryn Williams and Delhert H. Rock were married -Wednesday morning in the Salt Lake temple. In the evening a large reception was held at the home of the bride's parents, II r. and Mrs. Lorenzo Lo-renzo Williams. The rooms were prettily pret-tily decorated with palms, flags, gladioli and sweet peas, while on the lawn were red, white and blue lights and small Japanese lanterns. The bride wore a dainty gown of white embroidered Georgette crepe and a veil caught with orange blossoms. The attendants were Miss Pansy Oirey and Sergeant Ralph Twigg. Mr. Rock has entered the military mili-tary training camp at the University of Utah, and Mrs. Rock will remain-with her parents for the present. Miss Irene Compton of Logan is the guest of her sister, Mrs. Ralph Gillespie. Charles Compton, her father, returned to Liming, New, after a short visit with Mrs. Gillespie. Mrs. V. A. Finlayson of Twin Falls, Idaho, is visiting at the home of Mrs. A. Lundqulst. Mrs. K. Bingham and children are the guests of Mrs. Bingham's parents in Morgan. Miss Lucile Harker and Miss Laura Bennion entertained at a miscellaneous shower Thursday evening at the home of Miss Bennion, in compliment to Miss Merelda Burton and Scott Mackey, whose marriage is announced to take place Wednesday Wed-nesday morning in the Salt Lake temple.' The lawn was decorated with Japanese lanterns and the allied flags, while the hoiihrf was tastefully decorated with fall gjTn flowers. The guests included many members of the Ophir lodge: Miss Bessie Marks is spending a two weeks' vacation with her aunt and uncle, Dr. and Mrs. J. B. McEnany, near Henry lake, Idaho. The Patriotic Service Knitting club will be entertained by Mrs. Ernest Snyder, Mrs. Clyde Amaden and Mrs. George Clausing at the home of Mrs. Snyder next Tuesday evening. The time .will be devoted to cards, as a diversion from knitting. Mrs. Henry Wiltrout of Los Angeles, Cal., is visiting her sjister, Mrs. Clyde Amaden. One of the delightful affairs of the week was the unique lawn party given by the Hopeless club Monday Mon-day night at the home of Vera Kenner in compliment to the boys who left Thursday for army service. Thev were Willie Jones, Irvin Henrie, Carl Kreich-knicht, Kreich-knicht, Fred Braithwaite, Peter Ahlstrom, Birney Farnsworth and Milliard Vor-hees. Vor-hees. The lawns were effective! v decorated dec-orated with United States flags, flags of the allies and Chinese lanterns and 'electric 'elec-tric lights. The time was spent in games, music and dancing. Thirty-five were present. Refreshments, were, served at midnight. Mr. and Mrs. Martin Braithwaite entertained en-tertained at a 6 o'clock dinner. Monday evening in honor of Peter Ahlstrom, Carl FTeiehknicht, Hilliard Vorhees, Irvin Henrie, Willie Jones, Bimey Farnsworth and Fred Braithwaite. Covers were laid for 125. One of the most enjoyable affairs of the past week was the plunge party at Monroe Hot Springs, the party leaving here on the 6 o'clock train Saturday evening, eve-ning, going as far- as Richfield and then motoring to Monroe.
