Show FORTY CASES HEARD IN POLICE COURT Following the raids made by the police Friday nipht, Judge W. H. Wiikins yesterday yes-terday held a busy session in police court forty persons facing the court on sundry charges. Twenty-four persons, most of them taken in the raids, with a few gathered at random about town, were called on to answer to charges of vagrancy, patronizing pat-ronizing resorts and disorderly conduct. .Thirteen pleaded guilty or were found guilty. Three pleaded not guilty and had their cases set for hearing, while five others had dates set for pleading, . and two forfeited their bonds by failing to -Jf those found guilty, one received a t, jail sentence of ninety days, three sixtv days, three were fined $50. and one was fined $15, while five others will be sentenced sen-tenced later. One was dismissed. Two men charged with gambling were assessed $10 each, while six men found f guilty of having glaring headlights on x their automobiles were charged $5 apiece. |
