Show FRANKLIN, N. H., Aug. 17 United States Senator Jacob H. Gallinger of New Hampshire died at a hospital here early today. When Senator Gallinger returned from Washington to his summer home at Salisbury Heights, near here, in July, he was in poor health. A few days ago his condition became so much worse that upon advice of his physician he was brooght to a hospital here. Death was attributed to arterio-sc.lerosis. The funeral will be held from the First Baptist church at Concord on Wednesday afternoon. Senator Gallinger is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Harry A. Norton of Winchester, -Mass. CONCORD, N. H., Aug. 17. Governor Gover-nor Keyes will appoint a senator to fill Senator Gallinger 's seat until the election this fall of a successor for the remainder of his term, which expires in March, 11)21. H., Aug. 17. A tribute to the memory of United States Gallinger. Gal-linger. who died at Franklin today, was paid by 'President Wilson in a telegram sent to the senator's family tonight from Manchester, Mass., where the president is visiting. The message reads: "Please accept my warmest sympathy in your great loss. Senator Gallinger has rendered long and distinguished public service and his death will make a great difference in the public councils." |
