Jarvis, wbo was arrested last June in Salt Lake on the charge of conspiracy to defraud by use of the United States mail in the sale of Indian In-dian lands in Oklahoma, and -who is at liberty on a $1000 bond, pending investigation in-vestigation by the federal grand jury, is asain inthe toils at Seattle on a similar charge, according to information informa-tion received yesterday by William G Haas, postoffico inspector ot tms l jarvis came to Salt Lake the latter part of last May, in charge of a spe-, spe-, n. Inyesti-"ion Inyesti-"ion developed the fact that there were no lands such as those oflered by the International Sales & Exhibition companv, represented by Jarvis, tor sale Evidence was produced before the United States commissioner showing show-ing that Jarvis had advertised m one of the local newspapers, representing the International Sales & Exhibition company to be an agent ot the United States government On the latter charge he was arrested. . On leaving Salt Lake Jarvis went to Boise, Tdaho, to which point the special spe-cial car had been shipped, where he was again under suspicion by the ted-eral ted-eral authorities, and, just one leap ahead of the officers, he proceeded through the state of Washington to Seattle, where he "is alleged to have mado an effort to interest the employees em-ployees of the shipyards in the alleged bogus Oklahoma land scheme. The case of Jarvis in Utah will come before the federal grand jury during the November term. |
