The war has drawn into its vortex Norman E. and Eichard A. Kane, brothers, and sons of Mrs. Mary Kane, 1 19 South Eighth East street. Norman E. Kane has been commissioned a captain cap-tain and is now serving with the 314th field artillery in France, where he has been since last June. Eichard A. Kane will leave today for Europe to assume his duties as field secretary of tho Knights of Columbus. He received his commission a few days ago. For two years prior to the time he became interested in military activities, activi-ties, Norman Kane was employed as a deputy in the office of the county clerk in Salt Lake. He attended the officers' offi-cers' training camp at Fort Meyer, Va., and was assigned to duty at Camp Lee, Petersberg, Va., with the rank of captain cap-tain and adjutant. He graduated from the "school of fire" last January. Eichard A. Kane is chancellor of Salt Lake council No. 602, Knights of Columbus. For eight years he was chief clerk in the general yardmaster's department of the Denver & Bio Grande railroad. More recently he was associated asso-ciated with the Pacific Fruit Exchange as transfer agent. When his brother left for the front, he took the latter 's place as deputy county clerk. |
