Show Last Days of Summer Devoted to Conservation for Winters Store Fruit Stains- on Dainty i Fingers Marks of Honor CONSERVATION", tlio great watchword watch-word of the army which remains a( home has a particular significance in these last days of the summer time, when luscious fruits and vegetables invite in-vite preserving for the winter's needs. It is the carrying of the summer sunshine, sun-shine, so to speak, in the rosy cheeks of apples, peaches and tomatoes into the dreariness of winter, that they may emit rays of cheerfulness from pantry shelves, especially grateful during the food scarcity of war times. Salt Lake society women who have come to the front so nobly in all var work, are also responding to the summer sum-mer preparation for the winter's food supply. Daintily manicured fingers are not considered at canning ami preserving preserv-ing time, and fruit aud vegetable stains are honorable marks of patriotic service. Every day in the week Salt Lake housewives among the most, prominent women of the city attend classes at the community kitchen at Civie Center to Btudy the best methods of canning and preserving and the use of war substitutes substi-tutes as preservatives for their winter stores. :C BEAR LAKE, one of Utah's choicest scenic spots, has been popular among Salt Lakers for hunting and fishing trips this summer, especially for automobile parties.
