The school .started with forty sortouf members on August S, 1 IS, at 47 Wes1 Seventv-seeond street, New York ( ity with the justly famous Stefano Mas-casno Mas-casno the instructor. Mr Mascagno's -warm, manly nature his Intense interest in the cause and It each pupil, his wonderful technique ant artistic dancing, is the delight of th. class members and is a strong lndica tlon for the future of the school. '-I, '-I, Bv the wav, this normal school Is thi fulfillment of an idea of two brothers I M. Ohristensen of Portland. Ore., chair ,' 'man of the normal school, and T,. F i Christensen of Salt Lake, a tlreles t worker. t the convention of the A. N. A. M ! of P., of a year ago, the Christensei brothers proposed that the association in-! in-! Bugurnte and stand sponsor for a strictly I ( high-class ballet school. The proposition 1 was accepted and the launching of the. present normal school, the first of its L kind In America (the country' that must ' preserve the arts. If they are to he pre-'. pre-'. served), is the result, it is intended that i ' this school Khali grow until it includes 1 ! other departments in the art of dancing, f especially that of refined social or ball- room dancing, and more. It-must become! the guiding authority of our dancing lif, ' the intelligent censor of exhibition dancing, danc-ing, and the guide of the annoyed and sometimes annoying dance inspectors. Just before the departure of the Twentieth Twen-tieth Infantry band recently, this song was featured with David Reese in one of the concerts given at Fort Douglas, where it met with instant approval. During a recent interview with Mr. Godrlard, he gave his views regarding wartime compositions, and stated that although tho market was flooded with songs of that nature, he felt there was still need of a song which would have a tendency to cheer and arouse patriotism wherever it was heard. With that object In view he wrote and composed the song "We Won't Come Back Till Then." Just how well he has succeeded in this can best be judged by those who have been thrilled by its Initial rendition In this city. kaviUle I KAYSVlLtL-K, Aug. 17.
