Show PIONEER OF 1848 IS DEAD AT AGE OF 73 Special to The Tribune. PROVO. Aug. 17. Joseph Jacob, a pioneer of 1S48, died at Salt Lake last night, at the age of 73 years, from hemoiThage of the brain. The body bas been brought to Provo, and funeral services serv-ices will be held Monday at 3 o'clock in the Fifth ward meeting house. Mr. Jacob was the son of Norton Jacob, Ja-cob, one of the original company of 1847 pioneers, and came to Utah with his mother and other members of the family the following year. Mr. Jacob, who was for many years a resident of Wasatch county, moved to Provo in 1904. He was engaged with his sons in the sheep business, and was taken ill about two weeks ago, while he was with one of his sons at the sheep camp. He was taken to Salt Lake for medical treatment about a week ago. Mr. Jacob is survived by his widow, six sons, and f four daughters. |
