Show r DODGE CAR MAKES GOOD j TIME ON ARROWHEAD TRAIL f. jr" wines? ' '" f ' V ' t ' ' ;r : ;u ' C. O. Rulon and his Dodge Brothers car, in which he and members of liis family recently completed a trip to California on the southern overland trail. One phase of the many interesting featnrnss of the Arrowhead trail was expressed by 0. 0. Rulon, superintendent superintend-ent of the Tom Botterill Automobile company, who, with members of his family, has jus-t recently returned from a trip to California. Tho party made the trip in a Dode Brothers touring car, which performed remarkably well the entire distance, according to -Mr. Rulon. ' ' i''or the motoring fan the Arrowhead Arrow-head trail certainly has rnanv attractions, attrac-tions, ' ' said Mr. Rulon. ' 'It offers numerous aide trips with positively marvelous scenery, and it passes over a section which will "-forever be interesting interest-ing to Utah people because of its association asso-ciation with the famous Mormon battalion bat-talion and tho Forty-niners. "The people in southern Utah and southern Nevada, as well as California, take -rreat pride in the Arrowhead trail, and are working hard to improve it and make it popular. For the most part, it offers excellent roadway, although there are several stretches which should be materially improved. This development develop-ment is bound to come and make the "Arrowhead one of the most popular automobile au-tomobile routes in the United Stated. "We covered a total distance of 2500 miles in our Dodge Brothers car. We figured about 170 miles each day from here to Los Angeles, then did considerable consider-able driving between Los Angeles and Sau Diego and the beaches. California, of course, is delightful. We had many I interesting experiences, among them a visit to the .San Diego training camp for aviators, whtfrc one can frequently ?ee a dozen machines in the air at the same time. "I put down a few figures to illustrate illus-trate the performance of our car which, regardless of my association with its distribution in this territory, must prove convincing evidence of the machine ma-chine 's worth. Wo averaged twenty-two twenty-two miles to a gallon of gasoline for the entire trip. Many much larger cars were stuck on the road or would not dare to drive out of the beaten path for fear of getting lost in the sand, while our plucky little Dodge went through without any hesitation. Its riding qualities were certainly appreciated appre-ciated throughout tho entire trip. "We didn't drive for any particular speed record, although we did make it from Beaver to Salt Lake iu eight and one-half hours. On the whole, the trip was pleasurable arid interesting to a marked decree. 5 ' |
