Show HAIG'S MEN MAKE MORE PROGRESS IN PICARDY SECTOR LONDON, Aug. 17. In Picardy British Brit-ish troops have made additional progress, prog-ress, says Field Marshal Haig in his official of-ficial statement today. The British linos have been pushed eastward north of the Ami-ens-Roye road and north of the Ancre. British troops have gained further ground in the neighborhood of Vieux Berquin, at the apex of the Lya salient. The text of the statement reads: The pressure of our troops north of the Roye road and nortli of the A ni l e continued a nd progress has been made by us in both sectors. In the neighborhood of Vieux Berquin Ber-quin our patrols had sharp lighting yesterday and further encounters took phu'c d li ring last night. Our troops niado progress in this sector and in the neighborhood of Merris and have taken prisoners. The hostile artillery has shown considerable con-siderable activity about Mount Rouge and Scherpenherg and in thu vicinity of Zillebeke lake. |
