Show RIVERDALE FESTIVAL SCORES BIG SUCCESS OGDEN, Aug. 17. Riverdale's midsummer mid-summer festival and outing, held at Anderson's An-derson's grove in that district today, was was one of the most successful events of the kind ever held in that part of the county. The event was the occasion for informing the people of the community how their united efforts had brought about the most success in war work of the county. As president of the River-dale Farm bureau, Murray K. Jacobs told how proud the county felt of Riverdale for its eplen- ; did response in Liberty loan drives, Red 1 Cross work and the war savings stamp sales, as well as the conservation work by increasing and saving of the foodstuffs. . County Agent W. Preston Thomas commended com-mended the, poople for the fine answer they had made to the government plan for increasing food production and not having idle acres. Miss Edna Lad wig, county home demonstrator, dem-onstrator, urged the women to continue using substitutes wherever possible and conserve flour and sugar. The music was furnished by the j Thompson-Ritter Glee club and the River-1 River-1 dale Junior Girls' chorus. Recitations were given by George Thompson, Briant and Emma Jacobs. Luncheon was served at noon. In the afternoon an excursion ex-cursion was made about the county, viewing view-ing the crop conditions of the other districts. |
