union north jordan brighton Aloun mountain tain dell deft and pleasant greep creep of the country the statistical report of the stake for the tile six months mouths ending feb was read and accepted president angus AL cannon stated that some so me of the tile wards had not reported for six months and that one ward ivard in this stake had never sent in a fuld report and urged the necessity on the tile part of the tho bishops attending promptly to this matter john C cutler superintendent of sunday schools for tuis stake then read a report of those organizations for the year ending dec 31 showing a total enrollment of ahsu off omm meers officers teachers and pupils the enrollment in the sunday schools for the past three years has lias had bad ail an annual increase in numbers of about tell ten per cent the clerk read the report of the relief societies for tor tile the six months ending benain march 5 mso it was accepted aud and aud and sister at 1 I 1 home horne president of the li it lief societies made a few interesting remarks upon the tile condition and aud labors of those benevolent institutions 3 the tenth first fifth sixth and second quorums of elders were represented by their respective prebi presiding dlug diug officers olric ers who stated that their meetings were tolerably well attended ani and that teachers had been appointed to visit and labor with such elders as do not nod attend the effects of these labors in egme some instances were most gratifying b but ut in others little good deemed to result some complained that many of the persons who had been ordained E elders iders to the blessings of the lords house had soon become dilatory and nee net negligent to all the duties of the brother C K R savage spoke of the necessity of dakill making the subjects that could bo be handled by the elders in an interesting manner such a pro gramme of exercises should be arranged as will create an interest in the meeting ine lne eting and insure a good eiders rs reported the condition of that body after which the clerk read reports from the first fourteenth and eleventh quorums of elders the Y al and Y L al I 1 associations all of which were accepted the names odthe of the general authorities of the church and those of the salt lake stake of zion were presented taud land and unanimously sustained among the stake authorities the names ot second counselor to president BC E CS S clawson of the primary associations these were the only changes made the home missionaries were also unanimously sustained and the names of william NV willes and john johnjr 1 jC C young were added to the list J elder eider ider lder george georgi CL C ambert lambert gave a brief verbal report of the Y it M af I 1 A ile he said the work of the associations Is one of vast importance and was accomplishing comp lishing great good most alost of the organizations were in good running order and ard fairly attended there are however many wild thoughtless boys who have not yet been enrolled but they are gradually coming in the active season of their labors Is fast drawing to a close but it is to be hoped that thata as s many associations as possible will continue to meet at least once a month during the summer season brother george halliday tile the bishop of santaquin San said be he had come to 1 visit I it our conference for the purpose of taking notes and had been much inter ested and benefited it would seem by the unanimous way in which the assembly had just voted that they are all latter day saints and be he hoped that i such was the case for he despised hypocrisy po crisy ile he said we live in a chri christian alan afan land nere here where many of the pope imagine themselves to be the especial and exclusive favorites of heaven notwithstanding meir weir corruptions corrupt ions lons would find lind that god has arranged things so that all will get their merited reward ile he regretted that some who pretend to be saints have removed their hearts far from god and placed their minds upon the things ol 01 this world the latter day clay saints should seek by earnest pay r for the spirit 0 god not only in secret but in quorum and other inde tings they should contend tor for that spirit until god poured it out upon them as he did upon afi his nis servants in days of old in this way rs would become more interesting and bohu oliu coulam president of the ninth quorum of elders gave a verbal report of that quorum which did not differ materially from othe reports already given brother elias ellas morris in behalf of the III high nigh ti Priests Quorum of this stake reported the condition of that organization iza tion ile he regretted that through ill health brother elias smith the president of the quorum was still unable to attebe the meetings ile he thought that they were not aj at all behind the other branches of tl the priesthood as their meetings were quite interesting te and well attended bishop bishof win wm thorn of the seventh ward made a few remarks ile he took great areat pleasure in studying and com D aring paring ancient and modern prophecies for or many years the saints have been living in peace and almost unconscious of the great events about to transpire we had been beriou seriously sly siy disturbed only once by y our enemies in 1838 bythe the echo canon callon war this amounted to but
