Lions make donations The Bountiful Lions Club board of directors has voted to donate $3,800 to the University of Utah Medical Center's Department of Ophthalmology to help purchase a $140,000 electron microscope. The Lions' board also voted to donate $990 to the Bountiful Fire Department to purchase a Resusci-Anne Resusci-Anne and a Resusci Baby for use in the fire department's public educa tion programs. Lion Jay Meservy said the university's uni-versity's Department of Ophthalmology Ophthal-mology hopes to purchase the electron elec-tron microscope this year and has been given nearly $38,000 by Utah Lions Clubs. He said the university can obtain a grant for approximately $70,000 if it can raise that same amount through donations. "Utah Lions hope to raise an additional $32,000 or more before their annual state convention June 9-11 in Ogden." Bountiful Fire Lt. Robert Stell said his department teaches more than 5,000 people a year first aid, CPR and other safety skills. "The Resusci-Anne and Resusci Baby are important educational tools which we use in CPR and first aid classes and we are grateful to the Lions for their donation." |
