Show Howe gains honor Keith R. Howe, a 1966 graduate of Bountiful High School and an associate professor of accounting at Brigham Young University, has been chosen by the Institute of Internal In-ternal Auditors Research Foundation Founda-tion to become the first IIA Research Re-search Foundation Fellow. Howe will be responsible for developing de-veloping a curriculum of internal audit education at BYU. He plans to create two new courses to teach students effective internal auditing principles. The classes will be combined com-bined with other courses related to the subject. Although the new curriculum will not be recognized as a major, the additional depth provided for internal auditing will make graduating gra-duating students more attractive to potential employers, says Howe. An internal auditor reviews the performance of company management, manage-ment, ensures that company poli cies are being followed and evalu-' evalu-' ates the use of resources within the company. While BYU is the first school to be awarded the endorsed program status by the IIA Research Foundation, Found-ation, the organization plans to develop de-velop programs at other universities. universi-ties. Howe is a member of the Board of Research Advisors at the foundation. A son of Richard K. and Mar-jorie Mar-jorie Howe of Bountiful, he played varsity basketball and golf while in high school. He received a bachelor's bache-lor's degree in accounting from the University of Utah in 1972, a master's mas-ter's of business administration degree de-gree from the University of Utah in 1976 and a doctoral degree in accounting from Arizona State University in 1979.
