Show Applications accepted Hancock to be replaced as Falcon head grid coach By GARY R. BLODGETT CLEARFIELD Falcon football foot-ball coach Brent Hancock will be replaced as head grid mentor at Clearfield High beginning next season, sea-son, it was announced today by school Principal Michael Duckworth. Duck-worth. "There will be a change in the head coaching position and applications appli-cations are open for a new coach," said Mr. Duckworth. "Mr. Hancock Han-cock has been asked to step down, but he will continue to serve as a full time teacher at Clearfield High." Jim Hill, physical education health supervisor for Davis School District, explained that coaches of all levels and all sports are appointed to these positions by the school principal and they do not sign a contract to serve. Coach Hancock said he is "not resigning willingly, and will appeal the decision to the Davis Education Educa-tion Association and the Utah Education Edu-cation Association." "With possible litigation in the offing, the most we can do is to explain that there will be an opening open-ing at Clearfield High for a new head football coach," Mr. Duckworth Duck-worth emphasized. Coach Hancock has been a high school mentor for nearly 25 years, 10 years as head coach at CHS. He has an overall coaching record of 102-67 and a 45-55 won-loss record at Clearfield. Mr. Hill said all coaches are hired by the school district as teachers first and any appointments appoint-ments for jobs in addition to their full time teaching is by appoint ment of the school principal. A Feb. 29 deadline for receiving applications for a new coach has been set by Davis School District officials. |
