Show 'Batteries Not Included9 at Queen in Bountiful By CHERIE HUBER "Batteries Not Included" is now playing at the Queen Theater in Bountiful. This is a Steven Spielberg Spiel-berg movie so the special effects are interesting, to say the least. Stars of the movie, Hume Croymn and Jessica Tandy, are not , young and beautiful but they are superb as an aging couple living in a doomed little brownstone in New f York City. Anyone whose home or I business has been condemned for a redevelopment project will sympathize sym-pathize with all the tenants of the n building. ' Children will no doubt be de- lighted with the little creatures from space who like to fix things and who make their children from bits of tin cans. There are also ,ome very funny scenes in the movie that had some of the children chil-dren in the audience really laughing out loud. However, "Batteries Not Included" In-cluded" is more than a kids' movie. Jessica Tandy does an especially god job of portraying a woman who suffers from the off-and-on dementia of age and her portrayal makes it easier to understand under-stand the problem. The viewer has to like this woman as glimpses of her past come through mixed with the present. The triumph of good over evil, weak over strong, and poor over rich also make the movie satisfying. satis-fying. This is probably not one of Spielberg's greatest movies but it leaves you with something worth thinking about. Allen Hayes, manager of the Queen, now has the cry room open for the convenience of mothers with small children. The Queen's large seating capacity means that everyone can count on getting a seat. There is wheelchair space at the Queen also. |
