Show '88 Work Program outlined for economic development By CHERIE HUBER FARMINGTON Rick Mayfield presented the Economic Development 1988 work program to the Council of Government for their approval. He told the group tht in forming the program, the staff had looked at things that could be done with a reduced stair, now that Ron Kusi-na Kusi-na is leaving. They had tried to focus their efforts on areas they felt could make a significant impact, he said. The Revolving Loan Program funds will be spread over shorter periods of time. The staff will also attempt to target recipients closely and to put more money into strategic strate-gic business recruitment. Mr. Mayfield said he felt they would back off somewhat from government procurement efforts. Business seminars is another area where they will be less active. Mr. Mayfield said there are many good business seminars being offered by other sources now. The Business Appreciation Lunch will be retained as will the Business Retention Program. This year the luncheon will be held Feb. 2 at Hill Air Force Base. Lynn Blake with the Centers of Excellence Excell-ence program will be the guest speaker. There has been no feedback on the newsletter so that will be dropped drop-ped for the present time. There will be one brochure produced this year. The 1988 work program was approved by the council members. |
