Show I Bountiful's final J proposal for RDA to be aired tonight By GARY R. BLODGETT '.. " 11 " BOUNTIFUL A public hearing to review tentatively approved plans for redevelopment of downtown Bountiful will be held tonight at 7 p.m. in the council chambers of Bountiful City Hall. The hearing before the Bountiful City Council will be geared primarily to merchants and property owners in the nine-block area of Main Street from 500 South to 400 North, but interested residents are also urged to attend, according to Mayor Dean S. Stahle. City officials will outline the most recently approved proposal for traffic flow, parking, landscaping, beautification and utility improvements for the nine blocks on both sides of Main Street. "We want input from the merchants and property owners along Main as well as from interested residents," said Mayor Stahle. He emphasized that a proposal has been tentatively approved by the council but that there are several modifications to the proposal still being discussed. "We want the best possible plan for the merchants and our citizens," he said. "But the redevelopment plan has been in the talking stage for a long time and we should be starting construction construc-tion just as soon as possible." In earlier meetings, the council agreed that the city now faces a tight time schedule in order to get the project underway with as little inconvenience to the merchants and public as possible, and still be able to complete the project this summer. The downtown three-block area between 100 North and 200 South which includes most of the landscaping was approved 3-2. The outer six-block area was approved unanimously unani-mously at a special meeting last Saturday. |
