Show Manila j I Clara Robinson I Phone 784-5333 Manila chooses cheerleaders The 1981-82 cheerleaders for the Manila High School have been chosen. Monica Wilde, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Wilde of McKinnon, Wyo., will be head cheerleader. The other varsity cheerleaders are Michelle Steinaker, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Randy Steinaker and Susie Cook, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dean Cook. Both girls are from Manila. The junior varsity cheering squad includes Natalie Radosevich, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alexander Radosevich of Dutch John, Nola Lamb, daughter of Mrs. Velma Lamb of Manila, and Leslie Wilde, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Wilde of McKinnon. The six Manila boys who were eligible for the State AAU participated in the wrestling competition at Sheridan, Wyo., on May 8, 9, and 10. Stew Leith placed sixth in the Bantam Division 50 pound weight class. Andy Meinrod placed fourth in the advanced division 130 pound weight class. Those making the trip from Manila were Mr. and Mrs. Stew Leith and sons Chad and Stew and Gregg Lambert; Mrs. Bob Meinrod and sons Andy and Brant and Steve Slagowski; and Henry Gutz who has been coaching the boys since March. As guest speaker for the graduation class of Manila High School, the seniors have chosen John Payne, former teacher at the high school. Mr. Payne was social studies teacher at the high school last year and the year before. Graduation exercises will be held for 12 graduates at the Manila High School gymnasium on May 29. Manila Elementary School had a kindergarten orientation day on May 13. Ten children attended. Some were unable to attend. The Manila Elementary award's day will be May 27. The Chamber of Commerce Fish Derby will be May 23-24-25 (Memorial Day weekend). Prizes will be given for ISSi-VU-"! Tickets are on sale at local businesses. The fishing com-petiton com-petiton starts at 12 noon on Saturday. All fish must be weighed by 5 p m. Monday after which all prizes will be awarded. For further information, call 784-5614. The Manila Fire Department will not have the sloppy Joe dinner as originally planned. The Manila High School award assembly is planned for May 29. At the senior citizen's dinner Wednesday, Wed-nesday, George Roth of UBAC and director and other officials from the Aging program were present. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Iverson returned Tuesday, May 12, from a trip through Nebraska and Kansas and into Oklahoma. In Prague, Okla., they visited with Barbara and Suzanne Iverson. They ran into some storm on their trip and saw the effects of a tornado tor-nado in Woodward, Okla. |
