Show Barrel racers compete in Vernal Cindy Young captured first places in the open barrels, 17.41; pole bending, 22.404 and in the novice barrels, 18.12, in a jackpot at the Valley Roping Club, Thursday, Marie Jenkins netted first place in the goat tying contest at 15.08. Also placing in the open barrels were: Dana Peterson, second, 17.91; Lorna Barker, third, 18.09; Bette Springer, fourth, 18.23; Marie Jenkins, fifth, 18.36 and Roxey Palleson, sixth, 18.81. Dannette Peterson pocketed second place in the pole bending event at 22.98 and Barker placed third at 23.75. Claudia Fletcher nabbed fourth place at 24.11 and Bonnie Barker netted fifth place at 24.23. Springer placed sixth at 25.85. Also placing in the novice barrels were: Pallesen, second, 18.47; Gail Moncrief, third, 18.95; Dannette Peterson, fourth 19.14; Fletcher, fifth, 19.35 and Tamra Vincent, sixth, 19.863. Young garnered second place in the goat tying event at 15.40 and Tamra Vincent placed third at 16.78. Jo Workman Work-man netted third place at 19.85. Young pocketed first place honors in the barrels at the Rock Springs All-Girl Rodeo with a time of 16.66, Saturday and 16.40, Sunday. Margie Besso of Rock Springs placed second at 16.89 and Julie Haskins of Maybell nabbed third at 16.91, Saturday. Haskins placed second Sunday at 17.20 and Martee Meter, Nebraska, captured third place at 17.37. Vernal's Young garnered first place in the pole bending contest, Sunday at 19.50 and placed third Saturday at 20.82. Meter netted first place Saturday at 20.21 and nabbed second, Sunday at 20.72. Vendy Rasmussen of Rock Springs placed second, Saturday at 20.78 and Helen Searle of Rock Springs captured third place Sunday at 21.56. Brenda Durfee, a former Vernal resident who lives in Ogden, nabbed first place in the goat tying event, Sunday at 11.1. Also placing were Meter, first, Saturday, 11.1 and third, Sunday, 12.4; Sherry Sagers, Burley,' Idaho, second, Sunday, 11.6; Louise Hickey, Lone Tree, Wyo., second, 15.1 and Terry Zink, Rock Springs, third, Saturday, 18.2. Another former Vernal resident, who ' lives in Ogden, Tracy Durfee, nabbed third place in the steer undecorating with a score of 1.8, Sunday. Zink and Jolene Jensen, Green River, placed first Saturday at 1.8 and Margie Besso, Rock Springs, nabbed third place at 1.9. Meter captured first place, Sunday at 1.5 and Vernal's Young netted second place at 1.7. Sagers placed first in the breakaway roping, Saturday and Lisa Chadwick of Burley, Idaho, nabbed first place, Sunday. Sue Seppie of Rock Springs and Cindy Young captured third place in team roping, Saturday and Meter and Seppie placed first. Cindy Hickey and Louise Hickey, Lone Tree, nabbed second place. Louise Hickey and Jill Aimone, Rock Springs, nabbed first place, Sunday and Tracy Durfee and Louise Hickey picked up 2nd place. Brenda Durfee and Tracy Durfee collected third place.
