Show i i i -.. - , X i ' ' ' ' MR. AND MRS. GLEN T. Walker Golden wedding honors Mr. and Mrs. Glen JFalher The family of Mr. and Mrs. Glen T. Walker, Fruit Heights, are honoring their parents on their Golden Wedding anniversary May 29 at the Kaysville East Stake Center, 201 S. 600 East, Kaysville. Doris Smith Walker was born in Linwood, Oct. 20, 1910, the daughter of Alvin and Sarah Ann Smith. She grew UJ 111 LVluiMlluuil, wyu. Glen was born Oct. 23, 1910 in Lyman, Wyo. He was the son of John C. and Mary Walker. Doris and Glen were married in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on May 27, 1931. After their marriage they lived in McKinnon, Wyo., where Glen taught school for 15 years. They also ran a ranch, store, postoffice and gas station while in McKinnon. Glen served in the bishopric and as a bishop in the LDS church. Doris was the postmistress and storekeeper. They moved to Vernal In 1948 and shortly thereafter Glen was called on a short term mission to Alabama for the LDS church. He was employed at the Vernal Post Office for 22 years, retiring as assistant post master. While residing in Vernal, he served in two bishoprics, was LDS regional welfare coordinator and on the high council. Doris served ns . a Relief Society president and in the Primary and Relief Society Stuke presidencies. They wore also state missionaries. Upon retiring they moved to Kar-mington Kar-mington for several years, and later to Fruit Heights. They served a mission for the LDS church to Tennessee, Nashville, and have been temple workers In the Salt ' Lake and Ogdcn temples. They have two sons and one daughter: Nolan, Centerville; Owen, Layton, David and Mrs. Wendell (Glenna) Collier both of Fruit Heights. They have 13 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. The family invite friends and relatives of the Walkers to attend the open house in Fruit Heights and request no gifts. |
